They Help Us
Olivia grew up amid chaos, violence, and substance abuse. Her father and older brother sexually abused her.
Not surprisingly, Olivia’s adult mind protects her sanity by blocking many of those childhood memories, but she clearly remembers Sean, an older brother who loved her and did his best to protect her.
When Olivia was fifteen, Sean died in a motorcycle crash. She told me his death sent a shock wave through her family and the abuse stopped.
When I heard Olivia say, “the abuse stopped,” a vibration raced through my entire being. An immediate impression came as potently and as clearly as any I’d experienced. It flowed through me and out of my mouth.
“Your brother died to save your life,” I said.
She nodded knowingly, tearfully. She’d received the same impression at the same moment.
I don’t know how our deceased loved ones help us from the other side, but I know they do.
