Enjoy Your Mousse

Sheila and I after lunch (no mousse), just before the 2017 solar eclipse.

You’ve all heard that old adage, “Life is short, eat dessert first.” Well, my wife takes it to heart.

We went to dinner in our favorite upscale buffet restaurant. It sits atop a downtown high-rise and offers a wonderful view of the city.

The maître d’ seated us. Drinks arrived. Then Sheila headed for the appetizer table. She returned with a large shrimp cocktail and a three-bite dish of chocolate mousse.

She fixed herself a salad with her favorite dressing. On her way back to our table, she picked up another chocolate mousse.

Her entrée? Salmon, of course, with another chocolate mousse. I laughed with each course. She just smiled and enjoyed another tiny dish of her favorite dessert.

Finally, it was time for dessert. She picked up a chocolate mousse, no surprise, and walked past all the fancy cakes, puddings, tiramisu, and crème brûlée. She passed the macarons (my favorites, particularly pistachio) and pastries. She circled the end of the table and picked up another chocolate mousse on her way back to her seat.

Find what you love and enjoy it.
