More than Coincidence
It was more than coincidence. I’d thought of Gail just as she’d texted to see when we could meet. At the same time, another client cancelled due to illness, leaving room in my schedule for Gail.
As Gail and I visited over sushi, she admitted she didn’t know why she’d felt the need to meet on that specific day.
I let her talk. I knew she’d come up with her answer.
Gail’s family disapproved of her recent life path, but Heaven had told her to dismiss the guilt they’d tried to impose. She knew who she was and how to find her answers.
Gail had always felt a spiritual connection to her older sister, Kathy, even after Kathy’s death, but there’d been a hiccup in their relationship and Gail still felt guilty about it.
There it was. The moment she said it, I knew she’d verbalized her own answer.
I sat up straight. “Now I know why we’re here,” I said.
Gail raised her brows.
“Dismiss the guilt,” I said. “Kathy doesn’t need it.”
I felt Kathy near me, speaking to me.
Gail smiled. She knew. People know when they hear truth.
“How long ago did Kathy die?” I asked.
Gail paused. Her eyes widened, then filled with tears. “It was twenty-one years ago today,” she said.
“Now you know why we had to meet today,” I said.
As I drove home, I realized the client who’d canceled to make space for Gail was named Kathy.
It all felt more than coincidence.
