Carpe Diem

Jeff Olsen and I wandered downtown Philly looking for a cheesesteak. The Reading Terminal Market was closed, and we got tired of walking, so we ate a lame, dry, flavorless excuse for a cheesesteak at a small dive. Then we called an Uber to return to the hotel. 

Jeff told our Uber driver where we ate. “That’s not a cheesesteak,” she said, sounding like Crocodile Dundee. I waited for her to pull a sandwich from her belt and say, “This is a cheesesteak.”

Jeff insisted we have an authentic Philly cheesesteak even though our bellies were full. Our driver delivered us to Joe’s, the original 1939 location. We laughed, talked and took in the ambience, and by the time we got to the front of the line, we were hungry again. I had everything but the mushrooms. Jeff insisted on the full experience.

Jeff Olsen grabs the most from every day and every experience. I love that about him. Take a lesson from someone who has already died once. Carpe diem.
