Priceless Truths
Meg made me laugh until I cried.
She was a faithful churchgoer struggling mightily with the demands of a five-year-old daughter, a three-year-old son, a home, a husband, and the perpetual challenge of too few hours in a day.
One beautiful Sunday morning, Meg and her family rushed through their usual routine and staggered into church just minutes before services commenced. Her husband settled into a pew with their son as Meg took their daughter to the children’s meeting. She stayed to listen.
“What do you do in your home to help your parents?” a teacher asked, encouraging the children to be supportive family members.
One child said he’d cleaned his room. Another had helped her mother make cookies. Then the teacher asked Meg’s daughter.
“I watch my little brother on Sunday mornings so Mommy and Daddy can shower together.”
It’s true what they say, the things we learn in church are priceless.
